After Graduation

I owe much thanks for all of you that contacted me to say, “Congratulations.”

I mostly moved out of the college’s studio and I rented a studio downtown. I guess that might be old news.

The last few days I was reading and catching up on what is happening on the Web 2.0, blogosphere, Bubble 1.0 vs. Bubble 2.0. Learned terms such as the long tail. I’ve learned about some incredible sites. Digg, Geek Entertainment TV as well as I have enjoyed reading Flock Feeds . One of the most helpful sites was Tim ORielly’s site — O’Reilly: What Is Web 2.0.? If you haven’t checked out the Flock Browser… you got to. It is a great web tool.

The next couple of days I will working on getting my portfolio together and online. Will posting the thesis shortly.

Thanks

Thanksgiving–November 23

Checkin’ in… yesterday was a pretty good day. Only a couple more weeks to graduation, then I will have to begin putting together a plan to continue showing my work. I am gathering some material but it seems that if an artist is serious about showing: it is a another full time job.

I am going to make this short because I have one more piece to add to the Grinder. The switch is done now I need to frame it in..

Later…

Oh yeah… be sure to check out Flock, I have been using it for a few weeks. Flock has really combined the best of the web by allow me to combine my love for art, making it more convenient for me to blog, and extending my research capabilities.

November 21, 2005

Wishing all a great Thanksgiving.

Working hard on my Thesis Show.  Postcards will be out soon.\n\nDecember 15th will be the Grad show … followed my graduation on December 16th.

My niece got some sort of report this cancer seems to be very localized so surgery is the way to go… We haven’t heard the number of tumors she has.

Mike is with friends upstate Minnesota. I am hoping he will be coming home tomorrow. Finally the skies are clear but it is cold today.

I am looking forward to working ing my drawing and finishing it up tomorrow or Wednesday. I will be needing to work on the video soon.

Later…

One Step Closer

The projects are going along well. Having fun with Director. Have tried the Director animation a couple different ways which ever way I have done it, it is a real drag on the processor.

I can’t believe… I can’t remember how to do repeating loops or set up functions. Some other things I remember so well.

The sun is out — would have been a great day for drawing but it is so blasted windy. I am hoping Friday will be better. I have to figure out how I am going to hang the camera for my installation. Seems I’ll be doing a performance piece with the camera mounted above me while I am tracing my shadow on the floor below. The image caught by the projector of me tracing my shadow will be projected on the wall.

Next couple days I will post the floor plan for my thesis show.

Later.

Oak’s Shadow @ MCAD—Oct 20, 2005

Waiting for sun… having a good time today. Working on the animation for my final project–”the Grinder.” It is going well but needed a bit of a break. So here I am.

I certainly don’t get tired of taking photos. This image was taken the morning of Oct 20th. Before I started my drawing that day. I did draw yesterday but it got very cloudy so I had to quit at noon. I am hoping to be able to resume it again on the Tuesday or Wednesday. The weather doesn’t look like it will cooperate until then. Bummer.

Do hope to get my animation done today.
